Fibonacci Window

13th century Italian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci was credited with a variety of important mathematical discoveries and applications. Perhaps the most intriguing is a number sequence called Fibonacci Numbers. The sequence is useful in analyzing the nature of things from the branching of trees, petals of a rose, and curves of seashells to population expansion and even the financial markets. The Fibonacci spiral is a visualization of the number sequence that approximates the spiral produced from the golden ratio. In this work I used a portion of the infinite sequence 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34, wherein I imagined the creation of a stained glass window under the direction of Leonardo Fibonacci. This work is now available through Fine Art America on print or canvas.
